The Shito-kai Murayama organisation has member groups in Mexico, Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Honduras, Canada, USA, Panama and United Kingdom. Murayama Sensei tries to visit his member groups every year, ensuring technical standards are met in accordance with the teaching of his own instructor, Manzo Iwata Sensei. Murayama Sensei also examines all Dan grade candidates from Shodan to Rokudan, maintaining a uniform standard of proficiency throughout the Shito-kai Murayama group.

All student members of the Murayama Shitokai organisation are invited to attend the annually held ‘Copa Murayama’, a three day festival of world class Japanese instruction and competition. This annual festival was established in 1983 by one of Murayama Sensei’s first students Mr. Jose Luis Calderoni. Mr. Calderoni, as a young man, studied for many years with Master Murayama. These days Mr. Calderoni continues to assist and support Murayama Sensei and his branch of the Shito-kai organisation. In October 2008, the Copa Murayama will celebrate its 25th anniversary.

Every year Murayama Sensei invites the son of his late master Manzo Iwata, Shihan Genzo Iwata, to the Copa Murayama. Genzo Iwata Sensei is the Japan Shito-kai Honbu Dojo Chief Instructor, and provides technical support to all member groups. Iwata Sensei also tests Dan grade candidates at the request of Murayama Sensei, as well as overseeing the Shito-kai Instructor Licence examinations held at the end of each Copa Murayama festival. Past guest instructors at the Copa Murayama have included Masters; Manzo Iwata, Fumio Demura, Takeshi Uchiage, Yukio Yokose, Yasumasa Kametani, Yukimitsu Hasegawa, Genzo Iwata, Hiroshi Ishikawa and of course, Kunio Murayama himself, among others.
